Hi, I’m Gina!

Welcome to Evergreen + Salt, where I share all my favorite things to do and see in the Pacific Northwest (and beyond!). I have called Washington State home for over 10 years and even wrote a book about it: 100 Things to Do in Washington State Before You Die – available online and in local bookstores.

I love writing about my adopted home state (ahem, Washington), which I have a deep love for. As a career travel writer, I have traveled to over 30 countries and on a sunny day, I still think it’s hard to beat the beauty of a western Washington. Toes in the sand watching a sunset over Puget Sound with the mountains as a backdrop is one of my favorite ways to end a day. I have love for Eastern Washington, too, which is beautiful in a different way.

Prior to launching Evergreen + Salt and Travel Montana Now, I ran the website One Day in a City for over 14 years. Content is still there with tips and itineraries from my two decades of international travel. Now, I focus on more regional travel, but try to get overseas still whenever I can fit it into my family’s busy schedule.

My two daughters keep me closer to home these days, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love exploring the Pacific Northwest with them, and my husband when he’s able to take a break from his busy tech job (hey, we are in Seattle after all) and join us.

I look forward to sharing some of these adventures on this blog along with other PNW lifestyle articles and tips!

My Writing Career

Speaking of that writing career, I’ve written for numerous publications both in print and online. I’ve also done freelance travel copywriting that has appeared in Travel + Leisure, Brides Magazine, and more.

In addition to 100 Things to Do in Washington State Before You Die, I am the co-author of another book in the same series about Billings, Montana: 100 Things to Do in Billings Before You Die. It was an incredible project I did with my mom showcasing her hometown and one of the most under-appreciated cities in Montana. I was born in Montana and still visit frequently since I still have lots of family there.
