Directions for Making the Candy Covered Apple Pretzels

1.  In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy wafers in the microwave. Do so at 15 second intervals and stir in between each time in the microwave. Do this until the candy is completely smooth.

You can also use a fondue pot to melt the candy if you don’t have a microwave or prefer not to use it. Or use this handy little pot specifically for melting candy:

2. Next, place the pretzel on a spoon or fork. Dip the pretzel into the red and melted candy. Make sure you coat the entire pretzel.

3. After you coat the pretzel in the meltable mix, immediately place it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. You’ll want to make sure to use parchment paper so the pretzels don’t stick to the pan as they candy coating hardens.

A large plate would also work for this, just again: don’t forget to use that parchment paper. A no-stick cookie sheet would also work well.

4. Immediately after dipping all your pretzels, add a green M&M to the top of the pretzel. You want to do this before the red candy coating dries. Place it right in between the pretzel humps at the top so it mimics an apple stem.

5. Once all the green M&Ms are placed, you’ll see how adorable these apple themed pretzels are. But it’s not time to eat them yet! Before they’re ready to enjoy, you’ll need to place the pretzels in the fridge and allow the red candy covering to harden completely before serving.

It’s worth the wait when you get to present these adorable apple pretzels at your next fall gathering. These also make fun teacher gifts. Or package them up in a cute food-safe baggie with a sweet note like “You’re the Apple of My Eye” or “Have a Sweet Day” and deliver them to your friends to brighten their day — and taste buds!
